Children queuing for clean water at Takol Primary

The first school in Kampong Chhnang province to have an SCV water system installed was Takol Primary school, which has 611 students, and 14 teachers.  The Headmaster, Srey Yean, has been very proactive and understands well the problems of contaminated water.  The school is next to the pagoda, and it was decided to build a system at Takol Pagoda, where many people visit daily, and drink from the system.  Srey Yean was the first headmaster to decide on placing the filter in the classroom for security and to keep it from being exposed to the weather.  Since then most of the schools feed the pipes through from the tank into the classroom.  The children are educated in hygiene and the benefits of clean water, from an educational booklet produced by SCV, and distributed to schools, health centres, places of worship, orphanages and other community water sites.
